Deathstate was a game I co-created with Matt Leffler at Workinman. It released in October 2015 on Steam and since then has released on PS4 with an upcoming Nintendo Switch release.

The Deathstate inventory screen went through a few iterations. One of the early mock ups is shown above, in which we imagined there might be a full inventory grid. Also note how many stats we were planning space to display.

The actual in game inventory we settled upon featured much more open space and a leaner display of information. Any items you could equip were confined to fewer slots. Organs gave buffs and debuffs and those could stack on body slots (head, chest, and torso).
